I’ve always wanted to drive up the coastal road in Norway, or Kystriksveien as it’s called in Norwegian. So late July I headed north. I hadn’t planned where I would drive, nor where to sleep or what to see. But what I did know, was that it would be a 2600 km ride north. The only thing I had “planned” was to use about a week on my way up. No rush. Oh and a drive through the Lofoten island!

I’ve seen so many amazing images from Lofoten, so finally I would experience it for my self! :)

I was lucky with the weather as well. Earlier that day it was raining, but now it had cleared up.

Six hours later, I would thank myself that I had placed the camera in the front seat. In case something would suddenly come up. Leaving it in the trunk would not allow me to photograph this fella:

Ferry ride!

Driving through Kystriksveien involves a lot of ferries. My first ferry was from Lund in Nord-Trøndelag county.

After I got off the ferry, I drove to Rørvik – chasing the sunset. I knew by the map that Rørvik was an island. But I didn’t realize how big it was haha. The joy of not planning in effect. I drove and drove, but I didn’t reach the ocean. The sunset was fading away. I realized the defeat and drove back the way I came, continuing my journey north.
